New Zealand Visa Waiver Countries — Who Qualifies?

Citizens of certain visa-waiver countries are eligible to apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) instead of a traditional New Zealand visitor visa. The NZeTA is a mandatory electronic pre-travel authorisation required before boarding any flight or cruise ship bound for New Zealand.

The New Zealand visa-waiver program currently covers over 60 nationalities — including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, all European Union member states, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, and several key Asia-Pacific countries. Citizens of these countries can visit New Zealand for tourism, business, or transit without the need for a standard visa.

Once approved, the NZeTA is valid for two years and allows multiple entries into New Zealand, with each stay lasting up to 90 days — or up to 6 months for UK citizens under the bilateral visa-waiver arrangement.

Important: The NZeTA is linked to your specific passport. If your country is on the visa-waiver list but you hold a different country's passport, you must apply using the eligible passport you intend to travel with.
